Wine, women and no songs

The World According to Gimpy:  Big accomplishment, made it to the top of Julia's driveway by myself!  I made it to the funicular, then to the bus but the step onto the bus was toooooooooo big.   A really nice lady had the bus driver pull out a ramp so I could get on.  Went to Starbucks for juice, pizza for dinner, then The National for a nightcap.  Then Julia drove me home while the others walked.
The World According to The Kid:  It was rainy and cold today, but drank some great Italian wine tonight.   We met some of Julia's friends at The National.  I LOVED listening to their British accent.
The World According to Chunky:  The words between the lines.  We drank some wine!!!  While eating pizza at a restaurant in old Vevey,  the three of us polished off a bottle of red, then had a glass at the National while listening to Julia's British friends.
Wasn't sure the day would turn out so nice, however.
Julia went to work and asked me to do a couple of loads of laundry. (Wednesday is her day to do wash.  Each apartment has an assigned day.  And you can't do it after a certain time so you don't disturb people.) Well, it was raining, so I figured no problem.  Put the first load in and reinstalled the washing machine filter and went back up for breakfast.  An hour later went downstairs and found....I flooded the freakin basement!  Water everywhere.  I did not put he filter in all the way and the water poured out the side.  30 minutes later, wet shoes, socks and pants were changed and Sheri and I went to Vevey.  I got a new battery for my watch, bought half price train passes, bought tickets to Paris, ate jambon frommage for lunch then headed back to Julia's.
The second load did not flood the basement.  The rain stopped, sort of.  The pizza was great, the wine better and the walk along the lake invigorating.
All in all, a pretty darn good day!
